Join us in commemorating the collaborative spirit and dedication of our community to making a lasting impact, as we recognize exceptional individuals, businesses, and nonprofit leaders who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and service. These honorees exemplify the values of cooperation and compassion that are at the heart of our shared mission and highlight the collective impact we've made and can continue to make by joining forces and working together.
Our distinguished speakers will provide their insights on what "Uniting in Purpose" means to them. Cady Gerlach, Executive Director of Better Together 2030, will share her experiences on the importance of teamwork and unity in achieving success for all and share the vision for Pillar Five: Re-Imagine Human and Social Services of the Better Together plan. Jennie Schmidt, Executive Director of the Iowa City Free Medical & Dental Clinic. Leading vital programs at FMC, she will be sharing her insight on what it means to be a partner agency and how the collective efforts of our community through United Way serve as a valuable alternative for people when they have nowhere else to turn.
United Way programs and partners serve individuals facing various challenges, including mental health issues, inadequate healthcare, disabilities, homelessness (including runaway youth), financial struggles, working families who cannot afford the cost of living, and belonging to marginalized groups such as BIPOC individuals, refugees, immigrants, LGBTQ+ individuals, and children with learning gaps. These programs strive to achieve community goals of enhanced educational and career success for children and youth, promotion of household financial stability, and improved health for children and adults.
The Community Celebration provides an opportunity for networking, refreshments, and time to connect with others who are passionate about promoting unity across our community.
