Who Can Apply for Funding?
City of Iowa City: Any organization serving Iowa City that has existed as a legal entity for at least two years and received Iowa City Aid to Agency funding in any year between FY15-19 may apply. If you do not meet these criteria, please contact Iowa City staff about applying in January for at least $5,000.
Iowa City bases its funding decisions on priorities as established by the Housing and Community Development Commission (HCDC). The City recently set a goal to allocate funding based on the clientele primarily served by the agency as follows: 70% of funds to agencies that provide services identified as high priority, 25% to medium, and 5% to low. Also new this year, HCDC will utilize a ranking sheet to guide funding decisions. The Aid to Agency priorities and ranking sheet may be found at www.icgov.org/actionplan. Applicants must apply for at least $15,000 to be considered for funding. Iowa City has moved to a 2-year funding cycle. The amount received in FY20, will be received in FY21 without the need to reapply. Funding in FY21 may be subject to proration based on the funds available and ability to comply with the FY20 funding agreement in terms of performance and clients served.
