Volunteer Administrators' Network (VAN)
VAN is composed of professionals who work with volunteers in Johnson County and surrounding areas. The mission is promote volunteerism by networking with others in the field and providing professional development opportunities. Check out VAN's website for more information. Emergency Volunteer Center (EVC)
United Way of Johnson & Washington Counties is actively involved with disaster management efforts as the lead volunteer agency for Johnson County Emergency Management. As such, United Way coordinates volunteers to support the disaster response effort in the county before and after a disaster. That responsibility includes calling into action United Way’s trained volunteers, opening an Emergency Volunteer Center to mobilize more volunteers throughout the county and providing a Disaster Call Center to provide important information regarding the disaster and take requests for disaster volunteer assistance.
Volunteer Management Certificate Program
Increase the effectiveness of your volunteer program with a series of classes sponsored by Kirkwood Community College and United Way Volunteer Center. Classes are focused on volunteer management and program effectiveness and are taught by professionals in the field. Achieve greater results as you build your program or enhance what is in place. A Volunteer Management Certificate from Kirkwood Community College is available with completion of the six core courses along with additional training and professional experience. Corporate and Other Volunteer Groups
The United Way Volunteer Center specializes in finding service opportunities that meet the passions and interests of corporate, faith-based, civic, and student groups.
