YOUR END OF THE YEAR DONATION DOES MORE!

YOUR END OF THE YEAR DONATION DOES MORE!

It's easy to think when we give, nothing happens, but what if there is more?

Your donation teaches children to read, provides access to health care,

connects volunteers to community needs, provides a holiday for local families,

and so much more!

Tax Benefits Offered for Charitable Contributions

Please note the information below to help you take advantage of tax benefits offered for charitable contributions:

  • Donors filing itemized returns may deduct up to 100% of their 2021 adjusted gross income (AGI) for charitable gifts made in cash (increased from 60%).

  • Donors taking the standard deduction can claim a deduction of up to $300 (new since 2022, couples who are married, filing jointly can claim a deduction of up to $600) for cash contributions to charitable organizations like United Way.

  • Donors aged 70 and a half years old or older can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from individual retirement accounts. Donors may give as much as $100,000 per year directly from an IRA plan to a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization like United Way and avoid paying tax on the distribution.

  • Donors making gifts of appreciated stock in 2022 may eliminate capital gains tax on the appreciated values and may deduct the fair-market-value of the appreciated stock. (We encourage you to speak with your financial and/or legal advisors about these opportunities.)

Thank you for supporting our community through United Way!
