Do you worry what wine to pair with your turkey for Thanksgiving, your ham for Christmas, or your latkes for Hanukkah?  Worry no more!  Come learn from the best. Sommelier Jay Berry and host Nick Craig, owner of Brix, will teach you the ins and outs of pairing wine for the holidays.  And they will do that by offering tastes of wonderful wine and food in the delightful atmosphere of Brix Wine and Cheese shop in downtown Iowa City.

Getting in the Holiday Spirit: Creating a Special Centerpiece  

Maya and Kerrie at Every Blooming Thing invite you to learn to make a holiday centerpiece and to take your creation home with you.  We will start the afternoon with champagne and treats.  Every Blooming Thing will provide all the materials you need but if you have something special at home you would like to include in your centerpiece, bring it along.  In addition to coaching you in creating your centerpiece, Maya and Kerrie will help you learn what to look for in your own backyard to help create the perfect holiday centerpiece.

A Culinary Tour of Spain  SOLD OUT!!

Take a foodies tour of Spain with foods served from Spain's many regions. Begin the evening with tapas (pintxos) from Basque country.   Dinner features Paella, from Valencia, made with shrimp, chicken and sausages. The next entree will be braised pork cheeks in port and honey from the Iberian region. All of this surrounded by other Spanish courses and paired with wines and other libations.  Join us for an evening of food and fun!

Cooking Class: Taqueria Night    SOLD OUT!!

Learn to make authentic corn tortillas and a variety of fillings with Chef Eta Burken and then make your own tacos for dinner. Fillings will include the classic tacos el pastor, citrus marinated pork and chicken verde (a green salsa). We will have chips, salsa and guacamole for noshing as we cook, provide a Bionica (Mexican fruit salad topped with Crème Anglaise) for dessert, and pair everything with beverages.
